The Urgent Run Singapore

This run is organised by the World Toilet Organisation on 7 November 2015 at the Angsana Green in East Coast Park Singapore.  The purpose of the run is to commemorate the World Toilet Day on the 19th November to draw a world wide attention to the global sanitation crisis. This is the 3rd yr that it was being organised and about 1000 runners turned up for this event.
It is a global platform for individuals of any age, race, creed or colour to come together and advocate for sanitation rights.

The race village started at 8 am with participants streaming into the area.  The volunteers were already there setting up the information booth.  Participants can also do their bag drop with a minimum of $1 charge, the $1 is actually a donation for the organisation to fund their activities. Most of the participants here are just for a nice leisure run, so there are no stress of the elites around.  It is  more like a homely run affair.

The biggest inflatable toilet mascot is an eye catcher at the centre of the field for the participants to take pictures and selfies of themselves while they #urgentrunsg to get free printouts of the pictures.

Route

The route is very simple, as usual from the Angsana Green ( ECP Hawker Centre) then we went into the lagoon , past the seafood centre, and finally U turn back.  It was really fast.   Along the way, there were some signs and also people passing us some drinks.

At the Warm Up

Before the start of the race, all of us gathered at the centre stage for the warm up session by FITNESS FIRST.  They got us all pumped up with energy with some simple moves.  Before proceeding to the start point, we did a final Big Squat !

There were no isotonic drinks provided, but at the end of the race, there was a MILO truck for all to enjoy the good taste.

In all, it was a simple and fun run that helps to raise a good cause.
