Having already done this marathon last year, this is just a brief update for this year’s edition. Basically, the route has been improved to a relaxing and easier route. There were less turnings and funny turns. The water points were well replenished and there are also banana stations and sponge stations around. In terms of slopes, there were not many steep ones and all were easy. The race starts at 4 am as usual, which means it is still pretty dark at at the race start, most of the routes are brightly lit and visibility is not a problem. Just make sure if you need to go into some dark corners for toilet, be very careful and alert of the drains as some are not covered.
Taking place on 18th December 2016 at the Helipad in Tai Po(2016 MIZUNO香港半馬拉松錦標賽)
The race is very enjoyable as the day was well and sunny. The best part is, the location is a nice natural attraction with views of the mountain and the reservoir. Very tranquil and nice. This is hard to come by in the down town Hong Kong.
Have not written much for pole for sometime, since December is a rest season from running, I presume it will be a good time to write something about pole as I have been doing it more for now.
The Standard Chartered Marathon is always something that all Singaporeans look forward to. From seasoned runners to fun walkers, the participation rate is always very high. In 2016, the organising has been changed to Spectrum World Wide, a leading event management and experiential marketing company operating throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Despite some previous bad reputation on this events company. Sport SG has decided to give the company the organising opportunity.
When going overseas for races, I tend to chose those races which are in South East Asian climate. I am really afraid of the cold. And to me to run in any temperature lower than 14 degrees Celsius is actually too tortuous. But many runners have reflected that running in colder temperature actually improves their timing. This is the reason when I chose some of the oversea races, I tend to go to those which have hot springs!
