100 KM Round Island Singapore Ride

Jac, a swimming friend turned crazy cyclist, just came up with this idea for the Round Island with a couple, Nigel and Katherine as they never did it before.  I also never did a round island just maybe a half island.   Jac got 2 other folks to join us.

It was Sat 6:30 on 8th Jan 2022 where Me, Capt O, Jac and Nigel and Katherine met up for the ride at East Coast Park. We started to get into Tanah Merah Coastal Road and that is a long one till Changi Village.  The wind was very strong.  There were many riders on a Sat evening.  Some were more serious fast riders and quite many were just leisure riders.  Many of them got into the Changi Beach Park while we continued on to Changi Village.  It was around 8 plus where we had our dinner at a coffee shop with prata, Indian and Malay food.  I ordered one Egg Prata which I had been craving for sometime.  The rest all did the Malay food fare like Bee Hoon Goreng and Nasi Bryani.  Guess when you are in Changi, it is best to have Malay food.

All of us!

Night Fall

From the East side, we headed towards the North.  The route to cut through was all traffic and quite busy on Saturday night.  There were couple of other riders too.  We headed to Yishun dam , this is where another Member YL joined in at the petrol station .  We started to head towards the West side using Mandai Road to the Lim Chu Kang side.  This was where Jac told us to stop for a while for a legendary shot of the road which all Round Islanders need to take.

Dinner Time at Changi Village

It was really fun although there were no one around.  Capt O left us at Choa Chu Kang after we come out of Lim Chu Kang.  We headed towards the Nanyang Technological University side and headed down Jurong.  It was close to Mid night and we all decided to stop by for a small drink at MacDonalds near to Jurong Point.

Picked up YL at Yishun

Although quite tired, I felt the fatigue was mainly from the lack of sleep, physical wise I was still okay.  I ordered an Ice Lemon Tea although still feeling cold at night from all the sweat drying from my clothes.  But I tot it will be better than having coffee which will disrupt my sleep pattern.

Returning Home

We had a good chit chat about running circle and also the tri circle.  Then we started to head down the West side.  Jac said that original RTI has the Lamp Post 1 inclusive, I was like no way cos that will be probably another extra 20Km.  I parted ways with them at the West Coast Highway.  Felt a little relieved cos the folks were going really quite fast! It was about 1:30am when I reach home, bathed and just laid dead in my bed.  I thought doing it at night was a good choice because it is at least not so hot and much more windy at night.

Full route and map

Quite a heart felt gratitude to be able to ride with this group.  They were more focused and not just about taking pictures.  We did have some nice cameo shots also.

Would love to do it again and better my speed after the crazy 200 Shiok! Which I am not even sure if I can finish it .  Oh well that is another story.

With the gang at Lim Chu Kang
