In The Beginning

The longest distance that I have done in a real race so far is a full marathon.  The Thailand Ultramarathon, which I wanted to do the 50km race, had been cancelled due to the King’s death.  Nevertheless, I went for the trip since everything has been arranged.  Fortunately, I met a fellow countrymen there, and also at the lodge itself, we met a couple of others who were there to just “run the place”.  So technically speaking, I do know what the taste of ultra is like.  To speak the truth, I personally feel a full marathon is not that tedious but of course, I am still unable to run that distance everyday.  So physically I was able to finish a 50km rather comfortably.

Never did a FM for a good 2 years in Singapore, got a free bib from a good friend to give me this opportunity to do the FM.  Sundown is never a good race for me, because of the sleeping hours and also it is dark and kinda boring ( especially at the East Coast Park portion).  Being one of the only 2 Full Marathons available in Singapore, Sundown Marathon gathers all the Singapore running clubs and running enthusiasts, professional or just novices.  It is definitely a Ball for all the runners in Singapore.

The Tahura Trail running is held at the Forest Park IR H Juanda in the Dago area in Bandung Indonesia. Talking about fresh air in Indonesia for a change, the city is 150km ( approx) from Jakarta.  But it is not as crowded.  However, on the weekends, many of the residents in Jakarta likes to go there for a short weekend, making the city very busy on weekends and public holidays.   […]

Having already done this marathon last year, this is just a brief update for this year’s edition.  Basically, the route has been improved to a relaxing and easier route.  There were less turnings and funny turns.  The water points were well replenished and there are also banana stations and sponge stations around.  In terms of slopes, there were not many steep ones and all were easy.  The race starts at 4 am as usual, which means it is still pretty dark at at the race start, most of the routes are brightly lit and visibility is not a problem.  Just make sure if you need to go into some dark corners for toilet, be very careful and alert of the drains as some are not covered.
