Terry Fox Run 2025 Singapore

This year the Terry Fox run took place on 30th Nov at the East Coast Park Angsana Green. They had the 10km and 5km non competitive run. I had missed running for this event the last year and this year, I decided to just participate it alone.

The sign up was simple and its online, the run is free and you just need to pay for the T shirt if you buy it. I have been using the same tee shirt since 2013 for the run because the design I had was the one I really liked all the while. Actually during the year end I tend to get very sluggish and do not really want to run too much, I guess having to grapple with tightness and also maybe its just tiredness of the mind having run half the time of the year. Decided to take it easy for this happy run and I really did, the flag off was a luxurious 7:30am and I parked at carpark F to make use of the free carpark slowly warming up my pace over to the race start line. I could hear the horn go off already and I picked up my speed a little so as not to miss “the crowd”.

Route Proper

The route was simple over the lagoon towards the West side and the u turn point was somewhere near to the Old Big splash area. 5 km out and 5km back, as it was not crowded I had a breezy good time and the runners were friendly, there were a few more serious runners but mostly were there for a good time just enjoy the last day of November. There was one main water point at the u turn area, they gave a whole bottle of Ice Mountain which was pretty loads to cover another five km. Although it was a non competitive race, I decided to throw in some effort and managed to go below 1 hr.

The perks of coming back early is always being able to get the freebies ahead of others. The organisers had some really generous sponsors coming in this year like Tim Hourtons and also Sun pride banana. Tim Hourtons gave out a lot of doughnuts and real coffee, it really made the day, after a run the coffee is the thing for me. Fred Fox, Terry Fox brother also graced the event with his presence, he was autographing the runners shirts too. I managed a cameo with him, as my shirt was too drenched I did not bother to get the autograph but was happy to see him in person. The whole run reminded me of New York Marathon , cosy atmosphere and really friendly runners and volunteers. Will come back again next year.

Now to run back to my free carpark!
