Pole Dancing Schools in Singapore

Pole dancing and Pole art is becoming a very popular sport in Singapore.  Not only that, neighbouring countries are also starting to have many Pole Studios running classes for pole lovers.

I started pole in 2011.  I was drawn to it because I was never good with flexibility and grace.  I thought this sport will be one that combines both strength and grace.  The very beginning there were only 3 options: Bobbi’s Pole Studio, Acropolates and Groove Dance Studio.  All the 3 studios have different nature and also focus on different areas of the Art too.

If you are thinking of picking up the sport, here are some of the studios available in Singapore.  Facebook also has many pole groups to share the love of pole sports.

222 Queens St, the exact location at level 2 of the original Bobbi’s Pole Studio.  Bobbi’s Pole Studio is still operating in Australia where the school was first started by their founder, Bobbi, she is a renowned dancer and has been doing show biz for the longest time.  She set up the school to bring the benefits and dancing to ladies and also to empower them to gain confidence for themselves.

Now that the studio is closed in Singapore, Brass Barre took over the location and it is ran by a group of instructors who were also once students from Bobbi’s.  They use 38mm brass poles both spinny and static and run mainly pole dance, tricks, dance and stretch classes.  Workshops by famous pole artiste are also available on seasonal basis.

Another oldie in the scene, besides dancing and Pole arts, Groove provides Aerial Art courses like Aerial Silk and Aerial Hoop. They also have exotic dance, flexibility and strength classes. One thing about the school is that the pole courses are very complicated and has many many types, from the basics to the really advanced and also choreographing your own routine.

They use the chrome poles which are both Static and spinny.  But most of the poles classes are done using static poles. Their teachers are locals and experienced in the field.

The school is also located in a shop house.  Less focus on the exotic part but more on strength, tricks and flexibility.  Although the pole studio is small.  Students are always happy to share poles with one another.  It is also one studio that combines the GYM facilities with pole.  The instructors are all very young but that does not mean that they are inexperienced.  The learning environment is more like fun and doing some exercise workout.  There are also more male students in this studio.
